Volunteer Collage 3

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Voice of Hope!

Voice of Hope depends on volunteers to help us achieve our mission. Some of our volunteers work directly with children in our ASPIRE After-School Program or Summer Day Camp, while others serve behind the scenes in support roles and garnering in-kind donations. Working together, we are able to give children the resources and individual attention they need to grow into strong Christian leaders.

Here are just some of the ways you can be involved:

ASPIRE After-School Program:

ASPIRE serves Kindergarten-8th graders every school day, 3:15 - 6:15 p.m. Students receive help with homework and tutoring if needed. They also enjoy crafts and enrichment activities along with a nourishing meal. Volunteers may serve once (or more) each week. We prefer that volunteers working with students commit to a regular schedule.

Reading Volunteer - Reading volunteers will be assigned a small group of students (2-3) and will spend 30 minutes reading with them. This can be a combination of the volunteer reading to the students and/or the students reading to the volunteer. Reading times are between 3:30-6:30 pm at the Main Campus and 4:00-6:00 at the Expansion Sites. **

Academic Enrichment Assistant - Academic Enrichment (AE) assistants will be assigned to a specific coach to assist during the AE time. While the coach is facilitating the small group activity, the AE assistant will be monitoring the independent learning portion. This involves being actively engaged with students as they work through activity folders and activity centers. Opportunities to serve as AE assistants are 4:30 to 5:30 pm at the main campus and expansion sites.

Academic Tutor - An Academic Tutor will be assigned a small group of students (2-3) and will spend 30 minutes to an hour working with students on a specific subject with which they are struggling or desire additional assistance to excel. This may include working with them on subject related worksheets and /or specific homework assignments. Opportunities are generally from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the main campus and expansion sites.

Homework Assistant - A Homework Assistant will be assigned a small group of students (2-3) and will spend 30 minutes to an hour assisting these students with their homework. Homework time starts at 5:30 pm and ends at 6:00pm unless the student needs additional help in which the time is extended to 6:30pm when our program ends at the main campus.

Summer Day Camp:

Each summer Voice of Hope welcomes more than 200 area students for a two month summer camp. These otherwise underprivileged kids are given a purpose - to have fun! Sports, enrichment activities, field trips and more build self-confidence and prevent summer slide! Summer Day Camp 2015: TBD.
